[영-한] Turkish Ambassador Visits Tel Aviv University to Strengthen Academic Collaboration | 터키 대사, 학술 협력 강화를 위해 텔아비브 대학 방문

Turkish Ambassador Sakir Ozkan Torunlar recently visited Tel Aviv University (TAU) to promote and support academic cooperation between Israel and Turkey. Accompanied by embassy second secretary Ozgur Erkan, the ambassador met with TAU's President, Prof. Ariel Porat, and other university officials to explore avenues for enhancing collaboration between academic institutions in both countries.

During the meeting, the parties discussed strategies to foster joint research projects, facilitate student and academic staff exchanges, and reestablish academic, business, and cultural cooperation. These efforts were initiated through the "Academic Bridge Initiative," launched in Istanbul in February 2022.

TAU expressed its commitment to encouraging collaborative research and exchanges with top Turkish universities. The visit of Ambassador Torunlar provided a platform for meaningful discussions, aiming to strengthen the historical ties that have connected the two nations for centuries.

The Turkish diplomats also held discussions with TAU's Fleischman Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Medicine regarding joint programs, including studies on Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) systems and collaboration in medical research.

Ambassador Torunlar also had the opportunity to meet Turkish students studying at TAU’s Lowy International School, further fostering people-to-people ties between the two countries.

The Turkish Embassy in Tel Aviv aims to continue its close collaboration with TAU, promoting the exchange of academics and students, and benefiting from each other's experiences and expertise.
